3-25-20 fdl county communications director asks residents to stop calling dispatch with questions about governor’s “safer at home” order

Bobbi Hicken, Director of Communications and Emergency Management in Fond du Lac County, is asking residents and
to stop calling the dispatch center for guidance and questions regarding the emergency orders issued by Governor Evers.
Since Governor Evers announced his intentions to issue the “safer at home” order, our dispatch center has received a
significant number of calls from people wanting information and getting frustrated at the dispatchers when they cannot
provide the information they are asking for.
The dispatchers need to be available to take calls for people who need police, fire and ems assistance. Even if you call
the non-emergency number, you are taking a dispatcher out of service, not allowing them to provide the emergency
assistance they need to.  While we understand there is confusion and questions on the order, we want you to know we are not the answer.

Please go to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services website at https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-
19/index.htm for COVID-19 information as well as any updates from the Governor.
