5-29-20 fdl public safety referendum on hold

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic the Fond du Lac city council is putting a public safety referendum on hold.  City manager Joe Moore says it doesn’t make sense to talk about a referendum with an unemployment rate above 18 percent,  and uncertain economic future going forward.  “That’s exactly why I put it on the shelf,”  Moore told WFDL news.  Moore says the effect of the pandemic on current and future city budgets is also unclear at this time.   The council had been considering going to referendum next spring to fund additional police and fire personnel.
