8-3-20 johnson street-brick paver replacement project

Traffic will be restricted on a portion of Johnson Street in Fond du Lac for a few weeks starting Monday.    Public Works crews will be removing the brick pavers  in the crosswalks and replacing them with colored, stamped concrete on Johnson Street east of Main Street starting this week.    Construction barricades and barrels will be placed Sunday evening.   The project will begin on Johnson Street from Marquette Street to National Avenue and is scheduled to begin Monday, August 3. During this project, traffic control will be set up to allow two-way traffic on Johnson Street.   For Phase 1, two-way traffic will be set up in the eastbound lanes and the intersections of Amory Street and Wilson Avenue will be closed on the south side of Johnson Street.  Crews will be working in the north lanes of Johnson Street.   For Phase 2, two-way traffic will switch to westbound lanes and the intersections Amory Street, McKinley Street, Weis Avenue and Wilson Avenue will be closed on the north side of Johnson Street. Crews will be working in the south lanes of Johnson Street.   Traffic will not have access to or from Johnson Street during these closures. Park Avenue and National Avenue will have north and southbound travel with signalized four-way stops at these intersections.  Weather permitting, the crosswalk replacement on Johnson Street between Marquette Street and National Avenue is expected to be completed in three weeks.
