8-7-20 covid-19 safety guidelines for fdl city council meeting

In anticipation of a larger than normal crowd expected at the August 12, 2020 Council Meeting, the City of Fond du Lac has devised a plan that provides both the ability to social distance and the ability for anyone who wishes to speak to City Council to do so.
However, due to limited seating and to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we encourage anyone that does not wish to speak to watch the Council Meeting live online through the Government Channel Simulcast at: https://www.fdl.wi.gov/city-council/webcasts/, live via Charter Government Channel 980, or on demand the day after the meeting via our website at the same link.
If you do not wish to attend the meeting, but would like your support or opposition be read on record, please complete the Non-Attendance Participation Form located at https://www.fdl.wi.gov/city-council/ and submit it to the City Clerk via email on August 12th before 3:00pm.
To participate in public comments virtually, please call before 5:50pm using the instructions provided on the official agenda. Once registered with the moderator, please mute your phone and remain on hold until it is your turn to speak. The agenda can be found at https://fonddulac.novusagenda.com/AgendaPublic/.
If you wish to attend in person, here’s a brief list of what to expect:

  • We will ask that all people please abide by the Emergency Order issued by Gov. Evers on July 30th regarding face covering. Masks will be available for those that do not have one of their own.
  • The council chambers will be limited to 50 members of the public with a few overflow areas set up to live stream the meeting. All rooms will be arranged to limit capacity in order to maintain social distancing. Once capacity in all rooms has been met, we will recommend watching the meeting using an alternative method offered above in paragraph two.
  • Beginning at 4:30pm, staff will begin assigning rooms and/or seats and providing Public Participation forms. The Public Participation form will also be available online at https://www.fdl.wi.gov/city-council/ for any citizens that wish to complete in advance and bring to the meeting.
  • When completed forms are returned, speakers will be assigned a number for the order in which they will be called to the podium. Speakers can remain in the viewing rooms until shortly before their turn to speak. Staff will be keeping speakers informed of the status. The safety of the public and our staff is still our top priority as we assess the risks of every event and activity, but we must continue to do this together. Please continue to practice preventative measures to keep yourself and others safe: wash your hands often, do not touch your face, keep your distance from others, avoid mass gathering and activities, wear personal protective equipment, such as face masks, when close contact is unavoidable, and self-quarantine if you feel ill or may have been exposed. If you are experiencing symptoms, or worry you may have been exposed to the coronavirus, please call 844-225-0147 for more direction from health officials before going to a healthcare facility.
