8-11-20 uwo covid busines survey

Businesses responding to the latest UW-Oshkosh COVID-19 impact survey showed gains on several key indicators, but expressed extreme caution in their business and personal travel plans.  Interim director of the UWO’s Center for Customized Research and Services Jeffrey Sachse says firms added 249 new staff members in July.   Sachse says the survey results show  that while businesses are reporting growth,  more than half reported continued losses or no change.   Fifty five percent of respondents continued to apply for financial assistance last month.   Sixty five percent of respondents eliminated all non-essential travel for the remainder of the year and more than one-third decided to do the same in 2021.   Personal travel decreased for 70 percent of respondents.
