8-14-20 covid-19- in home transmission

The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says she is not surprised at a recent study that found people were more likely to contract the new coronavirus from members of their own households than from contacts outside the home.  A study, by South Korean epidemiologists, published in the CDC showed just two out of 100 infected people had caught the virus from non-household contacts, while one in 10 had contracted the disease from their own families.  Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says quite often that’s been the case locally.  Mueller says the county has the ability to separate infected individuals from a household at one of two isolation centers in the county.   In the study, by age group, the infection rate within the household was higher when the first confirmed cases were teenagers or people in their 60s and 70s.
