9-1-20 waupun school start amid pandemic

The Waupun School superintendent says the district is ready to welcome students back to the classroom this week for the start of the school year amid the coronavirus pandemic.     Superintendent Steve Hill says he is confident the district has mitigation plans in place that makes it safe for students to start the school year in the classroom.  Hill says he agrees with public health officials who say the recent spread of the coronavirus has come from large gatherings and people not wearing masks or social distancing.    Hill says residents need to rally together to fight the pandemic in the same way they did a couple years ago when tornadoes ravaged the area destroying property.  Hill says the decision was made to push high risk fall sports to spring because he wants to first open schools safely, and that would be difficult to do with sports like football.
