9-3-20 fdl county public health officer encouraging residents to get flu shots

The Fond du Lac County Public Health Department will not be administering paid flu vaccines this fall during the coronavirus pandemic.  Public Health Officer  Kim Mueller says the Health Department will not be providing paid flu shots due to continuous contact tracing efforts from COVID-19.   Mueller says the Health Department will not be going into schools this fall to give flu shots because of the time involved in planning for the in-school flu shot clinics.   Mueller says the Health Department is planning to hold two or three community flu shot clinics where parents would be able to get a free vaccine for their children.  Additional information will be shared with schools and parents at a later date.   However Mueller says residents are  strongly encouraged to get a flu shot this fall available  at multiple locations including your primary care provider,  local pharmacies and grocery stores.
