Students kindergarten through grade 12 are returning to school this week for the start of the school year amid the coronavirus pandemic. Some school districts, like Waupun, are in class five days a week. North Fond du Lac is starting out all virtual. The Fond du lac School District is starting out in a blended model. The first three days this week Fond du Lac students began the school year online and the first group of students return to the classroom Thursday. Interim superintendent Sharon Simon says some students will be eating their lunch in the classroom. She says as long as the weather is nice, some classes including physical education, lunch, and more recesses outdoors are possible. Simon says even with all of the challenges facing students, parents and staff she is excited to start the school year. Simon says she feels confident the District has taken the necessary steps to reduce the risk of preventing a widespread outbreak when a student at a school gets sick.
