9-4-20 election preparedness

While Wisconsin’s top election official says the state is ready for the November election, the Fond du Lac County Clerk says she’s not ready to say that just yet.  Wisconsin Elections Commission administrator Meagan Wolfe said this week that the state is prepared for the November election, despite fears over security,  the pandemic and an expected record-high number of mailed-in absentee ballots.  But Fond du Lac County Clerk, Lisa Freiberg, says separate lawsuits filed by rapper  Kanye West and the Green Party come just a couple weeks before statewide ballots are scheduled to be printed.  “As county clerks what do we do?  If I print 50,00-60,000 ballots and they’re wrong I don’t think the taxpayers are going to like me very much,”  Freiberg told WFDL news.  “If I hold back people aren’t going to be very happy that the ballots aren’t ready.”   Freiberg says if everything goes as planned on election night it may be 10pm or 11pm before all of the local results are in.
