9-25-20 former fdl councilmember critical of council’s action regarding alternate park plan

A former Fond du Lac city councilmember says he doesn’t understand why the city council seems to want to rush an alternate Lakeside Park master plan.   Jim Treleven was on the council more than 20 years ago when there were two failed attempts at commercial development at Lakeside Park.   Treleven says he would think an environmental impact study would be needed before there could be any construction on the lighthouse peninsula or Oven Island.   “I think it (alternative plan) is a disaster.  I think this council has gone about it the wrong way.  I think the business community has gone about it the wrong way,”  Treleven told AM 1170s Between the Lines program.   “I don’t see a good outcome one way or the other.”   Treleven says his other concern is that nobody seems to be able to give a price tag on what this will ultimately cost city taxpayers.
