10-1-20 youth football coach blows off contact tracer

The Washington County executive says he couldn’t believe it when he heard  a youth football coach attended a practice and scrimmage knowing he had COVID-19.   County executive Josh Schoemann says the assistance coach was symptomatic and had gotten a COVID test on Thursday.  Schoemann says Saturday the coach got a call from a contact tracer stating he was positive and they were going to do contact tracing.   Schoemann says the coach told the contact tracer he didn’t have time to talk because he was at a youth football scrimmage and would call back later.  Schoemann told WFDL news his initial reaction was “complete and utter disbelief  that a coach would expose  the kids to the virus and jeopardize  their health.”    Schoemann says he gives credit to the head coach, who is also the president of the youth football association.   He says the moment the head coach found out he dismissed the assistant coach and identifying through video of the scrimmage who was exposed and how to deal with each of those situations.
