A Campbellsport man convicted of trying to kill his fiancée with a pocket knife is going to prison. Fond du Lac judge Peter Grimm sentenced James Allen to 22 years in prison followed by 20 years extended supervision. Allen was convicted in August of attempted first degree intentional homicide-domestic abuse. According to a criminal complaint Allen stabbed his fiancée, Michele Fleischman, in the neck with a pocket knife while she was driving at highway speed south of Campbellsport in March 2019 following an argument between the couple. District Attorney Toney stated “this attack is an frightening reminder of severity of domestic violence and we are thankful the victim was able to survive this vicious attack. I encourage those that have or are experiencing domestic abuse to reach out for assistance to an advocacy group, friends, family, or another trusted source. You are not alone and help is available.”
