With winter right around the corner emergency management officials are reminding residents to make sure they are prepared in your homes, and when you’re on the road. This week is Winter Awareness Week in Wisconsin. Fond du Lac County Emergency Management director Bobbie Hicken says this week is a great time to check your emergency kit at home and in your vehicle. Hicken says make sure an emergency kit in your vehicle includes items to stay warm in case you become stranded for a long period of time. According to the state Department of Transportation an average of 43 people were killed and more than 4,100 people injured each year between 2015-2019 in crashes on ice or snow-covered roads in Wisconsin.
