1-13-21 republican state representative thiesfeldt says capitol rioters are responsible for their own actions

Fond du Lac Republican state representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt says he’s not going to place all of the blame on president Donald Trump for inciting the violent riot at the U.S. Capitol that has left five people dead.   On AM 1170s Between the Lines program Thiesfeldt says the rioters are adults and are responsible for their own actions.  “He (Trump) did not lead them to the capitol.  He did not tell anybody they should invade the capitol or smash things, or anything like that,”  Thiesfeldt said.  Thiesfeldt says he’s tired of what he says is the hypocrisy when people get riled up now,  but forget when it was done  during  the protests and riots following the death of George Floyd last summer.  “The rioting we saw in Portland, Seattle, New York City, Chicago, Wauwatosa, Kenosha.  Then it gets labeled as people simply expressing themselves, or some sort of nonsense like economic justice,”  Thieseldt said.  When asked if he would compare the summer protests and riots to what happened last week at the U.S. Capitol?  Thiesfeldt says “…the actions were the same.  The locations were different, but the actions were the same.”
