Democratic U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin says a senate trial of president Donald Trump is important even if it happens after he leaves office. The House voted this week to impeach the president, but the senate majority leader is blocking a quick senate trial, making it all but certain to be delayed until after Joe Biden’s inauguration January 20. Baldwin says Trump is responsible for the attack on the U.S. Capitol. “President Trump incited a violent insurrection against congress,” Baldwin told WFDL news. “We were working to carry out our constitutional duties to accept the votes of the American people. This attack makes it very clear that the president has broken his oath to support and defend the constitution, and he’s unfit to serve.”
