4-7-21 fdl voters approve public safety referendum

Fond  du Lac voters have approved a public safety referendum.  The referendum allows the city to spend $1.3 million annually to add six new police officers and six  firefighter/paramedics.  Fond du Lac Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says he is thrilled.  “…to be able to support the members of  our Fire and Rescue Department and the great citizens we protect.”   Assistant police chief Aaron Goldstein says the positions would be filled effective the first of next year.  Goldstein says the new officers would be put on the road between  the hours of  8am and 8pm.  Goldstein says the immediate impact is officer health, wellness and safety.  He says the additional officers also address the changing complexity of police service calls.
