Last summer the Fond du Lac city council didn’t give voters an opportunity to voice their opinion on Lakeside Park in the form of an advisory referendum. In Tuesday’s election voters sent a message by defeating the incumbent. Three new councilmembers were elected in Tuesday’s election, Patrick Mullen, Tiffany Brault, and Keith Heisler. All three are opposed to an alternate Lakeside Park master plan that includes building a restaurant at Lakeside Park. Mullen says that was the issue of the election. “It really shows that people of Fond du Lac care about their park,” Mullen said. Heisler was the top vote getter. “It’s an absolute honor. I’m still processing that. I can’t believe I’m sitting here the top vote getter.” Incumbent Dan Degner who supported the alternate plan was defeated.
