4-8-21 distracted driving crashes

As traffic begins to pick up across the country with increased vaccinations and decreased pandemic restrictions, the auto group club AAA reminds drivers about focusing on the road ahead and not their smartphones.   April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month.   State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmusz says distracted driving crashes kill nine people per day. In Wisconsin there were 12,000 crashes, including 29 fatalities in 2019 involving a distracted driver.  Jarmusz says it’s not surprising that distracted driving crashes have increased with the advent of cellphones. He says that’s held us back from some of the safety gains made from new vehicle safety technologies.
