4-13-21 fluctuating gas prices

Demand for gasoline continues to grow as prices at the pump continue to fluctuate.  State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmusz says Wisconsin was among the nation’s top ten in weekly changes at the gas pump with an increase of seven cents to $2.71 for a gallon of unleaded regular.  Jarmusz says demand is expected to continue to increase throughout the month as vaccinations become more widely available and the weather turns warmer leading to fluctuation at the pump throughout the spring.   Today’s national average is $2.87 a gallon.  One factor that may help to keep the national gas price average below $3 a gallon is the price of crude, which accounts for nearly 60% of the price at the pump. If it stays low,  even with demand increasing, it will contribute to  less frequent  pump price jumps.   However, at the end of last week, crude started to see higher movement following  a production announcement by OPEC.
