6-11-21 several republicans considering running for wisconsin governor in 2022

Several  prominent Republicans are thinking about running against Democratic Governor Tony Evers in 2022.  Evers announced his  re-election at the state party convention last weekend.   WisPolitics.com editor J.R. Ross says right now former Lieutenant Governor Rebecaa Kleefisch is the only potential  Republican  candidate who is currently making moves to get into the race.  Ross says if Kleefisch turns out to be the nominee she would be closely tied to former Governor Scott Walker.   Other potential  Republican candidates include Sen. Chris Kapenga of Delafield,  Madison businessman Eric Hovde, former U.S. Senate candidate Kevin Nicholson,  Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow, U.S. Rep. Mike Gallagher of Green Bay, and former U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy of the Wausau area.   He said Madison lobbyist Bill McCoshen, who served in the administration of former Republican Gov. Tommy Thompson, also appears to be making moves toward a run for governor.
