ATF agents have searched the home of a sitting Fond du Lac city councilmember as the investigation continues into a fire last month that damaged her restaurant. An ATF spokeswoman told WFDL news agents with the Eastern Wisconsin Field Office of the state Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives executed a search warrant Tuesday at the home of Fond du Lac city councilwoman Arletta Allen on North Park Avenue. State Department of Criminal Investigation agents were also on the scene, and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was called to assist with security. The spokeswoman said she could not release more information including whether investigators believe the fire was intentionally set. ATF and DCI are conducting a joint investigation of the fire. Allen is the owner of A Family Affair Soul Food Kitchen which was damaged by fire last month. In September Allen reported the restaurant had been burglarized, and damaged. On Facebook she blamed her ex-husband, who in turn posted on Facebook that he was not responsible. The Fond du Lac Police Department turned over the burglary investigation to the Ripon Police Department. Fond du Lac Police say an outside agency was asked to investigate to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest because Allen is a councilmember.
