An honorary street designation is recognizing the late Fond du Lac County executive Allen Buechel. As part of the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration, an unveiling was held Monday afternoon of the honorary designation for Allen J. Buechel Street. Former Fond du Lac County Board chairman Marty Farrell says Buechel is very deserving of the honor. “I can’t think of anyone in the community who deserves that recognition more than Al Buechel,” Farrell told WFDL news. Farrell says Buechel was the longest serving county executive in Fond du Lac County and state history, and possibly in the country. The unveiling took place at the intersection of Second and Macy Streets where the two honorary streets of Reverand Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Allen J. Buechel intersect. Buechel died last spring from a heart attack at the age of 74.
