4-21-23 green bay police officer charged after hitting man with car

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Green Bay police officer has been charged with felony misconduct in office after he he struck a man with his squad car in 2021 following a traffic stop. The Brown County district attorney’s office on Wednesday also charged Green Bay officer Matthew Knutson with negligent operation of a vehicle, a misdemeanor, stemming from the incident. According to the complaint, Knutson said in his initial report that the driver ran in front of his car and he struck him unintentionally. But the complaint says police dash-cam and body-cam footage doesn’t show the man cutting in front of the squad car.
