9-19-14 ballot lawsuit-fitzgerald

The state senate Republican leader says he still hasn’t received a clear answer on why the Government Accountability Board decided to change the ballot for the November election.  A lawsuit filed by Republican legislative leaders argues the ballot is confusing and makes it difficult to differentiate offices and clearly separate candidates who are running.  Senate majority leader Scott Fitzgerald tells WFDL news it leaves the appearance that the first person listed is the incumbent or only one on the ballot for that race. Fitzgerald says in addition each office is not clearly defined from the previous office candidates.  Fitzgerald says he doesn’t understand why the changes were made prior to such an important election.  Fitzgerald also says the designer of the new ballot has strong Democratic ties.  Government Accountability Board director Kevin Kennedy says its absurd to suggest that the ballot is somehow politically motivated.
