10-15-14 campaign finance lawsuit

MADISON, Wis. (AP)  €” A newly hired attorney representing the state elections board and Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm wants more time to respond to a lawsuit challenging the state’s law limiting coordination between third-party groups and political candidates.  The conservative group Citizens for Responsible Government Advocates on Oct. 7 asked U.S. District Judge Rudolph Randa to immediately order that the state stop enforcing the law.  The law is at the center of the investigation into Gov. Scott Walker’s 2012 recall campaign and more than two dozen conservative groups.  The judge had given the state Government Accountability Board and Chisholm until Tuesday to respond. But Waukesha attorney Dan Kelly wasn’t hired to represent the GAB members and Chisholm until Monday. On Tuesday, he asked Randa for an extension until Oct. 20 to respond.
