12-19-14 fdl county sheriff dismissed from civil rights suit

Fond du Lac County Sheriff Mick Fink has been dismissed as a defendant in a federal civil rights lawsuit filed by the sister of a Fond du Lac woman charged in the murder of her husband.  Tina Ewell filed the lawsuit in federal court in August after she was held in jail for two weeks without charges while authorities searched for evidence against her.  Ewell and her sister, Eve Nance, were arrested in November 2013 after Timothy Nance  disappeared.  The victim’s wife, Eve Nance, faces trial on charges of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse.  Ewell was released from the Fond du Lac County jail on Dec. 2, 2013, after her sister confessed to killing her husband over an alleged affair, and then disposing of the body.  The federal suit named Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney, Assistant District Attorney Dennis Krueger, city of Fond du Lac police detectives William Ledger and Matt Bobo, and Fink.  During a hearing this week federal Judge Charles Clevert agreed with Fink’s claim that he should not be a party to the suit.
