5-6-15 campbellsport man convicted of trying to disarm a sheriff’s deputy

A Campbellsport man accused of trying to disarm a sheriff’s deputy has copped a plea.  At a hearing in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court Tuesday 20 year old Tanner Gremminger pleaded no contest to charges of battery to an officer, disarming a police officer resisting and possessing an electronic weapon.  A charge of recklessly endangering safety was dismissed and read into the record.    Gremminger was accused of pointing a taser at sheriff’s deputy Paul Metzger last summer after the deputy was struck by 22 year old Colton OBrien of Eden.   Gremminger was also accused of kicking the deputy in the back.  The deputy had responded to a noise complaint.  A sentencing hearing will be scheduled.  Obrien was sentenced in March to six years in prison and 11 years extended supervision.
