7-31-15 wi law enforcement concerned about “flow of information” in fdl state trooper shooting

Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies are trying to improve their communication following a shootout in Fond du Lac that left a state patrol trooper dead.  In March Steven Snyder robbed a Wausakee bank, killed a truck driver, and drove to Fond du Lac where he ambushed trooper Trevor Casper.  Casper and Snyder were both killed in the subsequent exchange of gunfire. Wisconsin law enforcement has expressed concern that they didn’t know Snyder had been under investigation by a Sheriff’s Office and FBI in Michigan almost two weeks before his Wisconsin crime spree.  Snyder’s estranged wife had told law Michigan law enforcement that Snyder was responsible for a string of unsolved bank robberies.  Fond du Lac police chief Bill Lamb says he’s concerned Michigan law enforcement didn’t forward the information they had gathered to Wisconsin authorities.  “In this particular case yes we do have concerns about the flow of information about what was an obviously very dangerous man,”  Lamb told WFDL news.  Michigan authorities said last week Snyder was responsible for nine bank robberies in Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio.
