5-3-16 wisconsin interstate shooting

DEFOREST, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say deputies shot and wounded a suspect in the killing of a man in a suburban Milwaukee apartment and the wounding of a woman who was shot while traveling home to Illinois with her husband and children. Investigators said Monday that they think the 20-year-old man carried out the Sunday morning killing in West Allis and the apparently random attach hours later on Interstate 90/94. They allege that he opened fire on the family’s car while driving a Chevrolet Blazer, shooting the woman in the neck.  Authorities chased and stopped the SUV with a spike strip. The suspect got out with a gun and the deputies opened fire, wounding him.  Both the suspect and the woman were taken to the University of Wisconsin Hospital. She is in critical condition.
