10-18-19 longtime area radio announcer tom biolo dies

RadioPlus employees are in a state of shock and are mourning  the loss of a longtime friend and member of the radio station family.   Tom Biolo died at his cabin in northern Wisconsin this week from an apparent heart attack.  He was 61.   Biolo leaves behind his wife Lynn and two grown sons, Bobby and Brian.    A little less than two years ago Biolo’s son Paul died in a traffic crash.    The Wisconsin broadcasting veteran started in radio in Fond du Lac in 1986 and joined the RadioPlus team in 1996.   Before moving back to Wisconsin he worked at a radio station in Montana.  He was a the general manager and morning announcer at the Great 98 radio station in Mayville and part owner of the company.   Owner Terry Davis says Biolo will be greatly missed.  “It’s been a long run for Tom in the Fond du Lac market.  Nearly 35 years he’s been part of the radio fabric.  He touched a lot of lives,”   Davis said.   “Yesterday when we learned of Tom’s unfortunate passing we were all in disbelief.  How could something like this happen?”   For many years, Tom did high school sports play-by play with WFDL news director Greg Stensland.  “We had a lot of fun covering games.   I have so many wonderful memories.   He was an oustanding broadcaster but an even better person.  I miss him so much.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Lynn, Bobby, Brian and the entire Biolo family.”    Biolo was an outstanding athlete and quarterback at Green Bay Southwest High School.   He played college football at North Dakota.    Funeral services will be held next week.  Visitation is scheduled for 3pm to 7pm Tuesday at Zacherl Funeral Home in Fond du Lac.
