1-9-20 fdl business leaders to unveil new plan for lakeside park

A group of Fond du Lac business leaders will unveil plans for a new Lakeside Park development plan including updated pavilion and other park improvements at a  public meeting this month.  In addition to the pavilion, the plan includes an island amphitheater, ice rink, wharf bistro, boat docks, history museum and walking paths and boardwalks.  A public meeting is scheduled for 5pm Monday January 20 at the Fond du Lac Lakeside Park Pavilion.   The plan was developed after the council agreed last fall to put on hold plans to renovate the existing pavilion after councilmember Ben Giles said a group of business leaders was willing to contribute financially to a new plan.   Council president Brian Kolstad  says the proposal from the group called the Supporters of the Lakeside Park Exploratory Committee, includes many recommendations made by the exploratory  committee several years ago.  The new committee is comprised of representatives of several area businesses.   Kolstad says the the council has to decide whether  to move forward with plans to replace the existing pavilion or further consider the new proposal, or put everything on hold.
