Fond du Lac fire officials say they do not believe a fire that damaged a Fond du Lac motel last week was not intentionally set. Fire prevention specialist Troy Haase says it appears the fire at the Comfort Inn Friday started when someone discarded a cigarette or hot ashes into a garbage can-ash tray outside the hotel. “The origin we have pinpointed down to that exit area where that garbage can was,” Haase told WFDL news. Haase says the cleaning crews have been working since the fire to get the hotel reopened this week. Two people were treated for smoke inhalation.
