Area law enforcement was chasing a domestic violence suspect in the woods when a severe thunderstorm moved into the area Monday night. Brandon police chief Tom Dornbrook told WFDL news the suspect fled on foot into a nature trail area in Brandon just before the storm hit. “We had a perimeter set up and had deputies inside the wooded area by the nature trail,” Dornbrook told WFDL news. “The storm came rolling in, it got so dark so we called it (search) off.” Dornbrook says later that night the suspect decided, for his own safety, it was best to turn himself in.
