For the third time in recent years the town of Eldorado is fighting to prevent the placement of an out of county sex offender in their community. A closed door town board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday to discuss a Marinette County Circuit judge’s decision to place Jeffrey Butler at a residence on Nitschke Road near Van Dyne. Butler was convicted of sexually assaulting a child in Marinette County. The judge’s order comes after Gov. Scott Walker on March 25 signed into law a bill that requires sexually violent people to live in their home counties. The town attorney says it plans to ask the judge to stay the ruling.
