3-20-20 wi lawmakers oppose absentee voting changes

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Legislature is telling a federal judge to leave the state’s election laws alone during the coronavirus crisis. Gov. Tony Evers is urging people to vote in the April 7 spring election via absentee ballot. The state Democratic Party and the Democratic National Committee filed a federal lawsuit on Wednesday seeking to relax a number of absentee voting rules and deadlines. The Legislature on Thursday hired attorney Misha Tseytlin to intervene in the case. He sent a letter to U.S. District Judge William Conley warning that the Legislature opposes any changes to election law during an ongoing election.
