10-7-20 fdl county public health officer says governor’s latest order is not a surprise

The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says the governor’s order restricting public indoor gatherings doesn’t come as a surprise.  The order limits public indoor gatherings to 25 percent of the room or building’s capacity.  Gatherings in indoor spaces without an occupancy limit are limited to ten people.  Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says she is surprised that private or religious wedding ceremonies and receptions are exempt.  Mueller says that’s where many new COVID cases in Fond du Lac County have come from.  “That piece I feel is very frustsrating because a lot of spread that we’re finding are from just this, weddings, that even have just one person who is COVID symptomatic at the wedding is likely to spread it so many people,”  Mueller told WFDL news.  As Wisconsin has become one of the worst hot spots for the disease over the last  month, Mueller says the governor’s order shouldn’t come as a surprise.   The order takes effect Friday and runs through November 6.  Evers’ attorney says he’s confident  the restrictions will withstand any legal challenge.
