7-26-22 nelson says he is suspending campaign because he ran out of money

Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson says his decision to suspend his U.S. Senate campaign was pretty simple…he had run out of money.   “We’re out of money and we tried catching fire and it didn’t work out,”  Nelson told AM 1170s Between the Lines program.    Nelson says he has no regrets, and has decided to endorse Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes in next month’s primary election.  “He’s (Barnes) polling in the 30s.  He could be past 50-percent and that’s going to make our nominee that much more strong going up against (Ron) Johnson in the fall.”  The latest Marquette Law School poll showed Barnes and Milwaukee Bucks executive Alex Lasry the frontrunners followed by state treasurer Sarah Godlewski.   The winner will face Republican U.S. senator Ron Johnson in November.
