5-2-23 ex-oshkosh west high school student gets 17 years in prison

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — A judge has sentenced a former Wisconsin student who stabbed his high school’s police officer with a barbecue fork to 17 years in prison. A jury in February convicted Grant Fuhrman of attempted first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the 2019 incident at Oshkosh West High School. Prosecutors accused Furhman of stabbing Officer Mike Wissink multiple times. Wissink shot the then-16-year-old Fuhrman. Neither was seriously injured. Fuhrman, now 20, faced up to 60 years in the state prison system. In addition to the 17 years, Winnebago County Circuit Judge Daniel Bissett sentenced him to 10 years on extended supervision.
