1-10-24 winter storm update

A sprawling storm hit the South with strong thunderstorms and tornado warnings that blew roofs off homes and tossed about furniture in the Florida Panhandle and brought cities across the Midwest to a standstill with more than half of foot of snow.   Southern Wisconsin was under a winter storm warning until early Wednesday, with as much as 9 inches (23 centimeters) of snow and 40  mph winds.   Fond du Lac County Highway Commissioner Tom Janke says highway plows were out early Tuesday morning and again in the afternoon.  “We did have an incident (Tuesday morning) where somebody tried to pass one (snowplow) and took out their mirror and window,”  Janke told WFDL news.  “These are wide, big trucks that are doing emergency response so if you feel comfortable you can pass and the road is clear enough to do so, then do so.  But if not,  you’re going to want to give some distance, stay back,  and understand how these trucks operate.”    Another potential snowstorm was in the forecast for this weekend.
