The American Red Cross is encouraging residents to donate blood and platelets during National Volunteer Month in April.   American Red Cross in Wisconsin spokeswoman Laura McGuire says donors of all blood types, especially type O blood donors and those giving platelets are needed.  McGuire says the Red Cross depends on volunteer blood donors to collect about 12,000 blood donations every day.
