SSM Health Treffert Studios, 231 N National Ave, Fond du Lac, is collaborating with local partners to offer a “Touch a Truck Event” from 4:30 – 5:30 pm on Tuesday, May 21 at the Fond du Lac County Skyport, 260 S. Rolling Meadows Drive, Fond du Lac. This free event will provide opportunities for children and their families to experience the thrill of big machines, including fire trucks, police cars, airplanes, and much more! Plus, participants will get an up-close look at a medical helicopter and learn about its lifesaving capabilities. “We’re excited to offer this opportunity where we can give all participants the ability to see some ‘big things that go’ up close without lights and sirens in an area that will be spread out to hopefully prevent crowding,” according to Meg Puddy, SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Behavioral Health Community-Based Services director. “We appreciate the suggestion from our parent advisory group as we work to offer more sensory-friendly events in our community.” The sensory-friendly event will be packed with excitement, education, and family fun giving a unique opportunity to touch, explore, and discover. Several steps are being taken to ensure the event is sensory friendly, including no machine movement, no flashing lights or sirens, and appropriate spacing between machines to ensure ease of viewing. To help participants with planning, the Flight For Life helicopter will be landing around 4:30 pm and departing at 5:30 pm.
