5-8-24 fdl school district-two perfect act scores

Letter from the FDL School District:

The Fond du Lac School District (FDLSD) is thrilled to announce that two Fond du Lac High School students have achieved perfect scores of 36 on their ACTs, placing them in the nation’s top percentile of the junior class. This remarkable accomplishment highlights their academic excellence and sets them among the elite nationwide.  Gretchen Gilhaus has demonstrated exceptional skills and a dedicated approach to her studies, excelling in her music classes and on the math team. Anya Smith has balanced a rigorous academic schedule with AP classes, music and various art classes showcasing the well-rounded education provided to students in the FDLSD learning community.  Earning a perfect score on the ACT is an extraordinary achievement, with less than one percent of students who take the test earning a top score. The ACT is a standardized test that assesses students’ knowledge in English, Math, Reading and Science. The assessment evaluates analytical and problem-solving skills essential for college and career readiness.  Gretchen credits the math classes she has taken at the FDLSD with helping her prepare for the ACT. She enjoys reading, and plays violin and piano, having just received state 1 piano honors. Her advice to others preparing for the ACT is to read the exam efficiently and effectively and to complete the whole test by answering each question.  Anya has an aptitude for music and art and recently earned state 1 vocal solo honors. She enjoys scientific illustration, specifically drawing the sternocleidomastoid muscle, in art class. She also recommends completing the whole test and suggests one efficient pass through answering each question and noting which questions need more focus or time.  As FDLSD celebrates this significant academic achievement, our district also acknowledges the hard work of all students and educators in our learning community. We could not be more proud of our students, staff and families for continuing to change outcomes in our communities.
