5-9-24 fdl man charged in connection with vandalism to fdl restaurant

A Fond du Lac man has made his initial court appearance  in connection with the vandalism more than three years ago of a Fond du Lac restaurant that was owned by a former Fond du Lac city councilmember.  Troy Allen is charged with five counts including burglary-armed with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, theft and criminal damage to property.  Bail was set at $20,000 cash.  A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 9th.  He is accused of breaking into the Family Affair Soulfood Kitchen restaurant on South Main Street in September 2021 and damaging equipment.  The restaurant was owned by then councilmember, Arletta Allen.  Arletta and Troy  Allen were previously married, but divorced at the time of the incident.   Two months later a fire caused extensive damage to the restaurant.   The state Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation was in charge of investigating both cases.   To date no charges have been brought forward in connection with the fire.
