11-11-14 thiesfeldt-election react

The Republican state representative from Fond du Lac says last week’s election gives him a sense of validation that Wisconsin residents support the Republican agenda.  State representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt was re-elected without opposition and Republicans are in control of the state capitol.  “The temptation is to crow about the success you had, but that isn’t what the people want to see.  What they want to see is for us to use the majorities we have been given and the strong authority we have…for effectiveness,”  Thiesfeldt told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  Thiesfeldt says his top priorities are working on legislation to grow the economy and create more private sector jobs.  Thiesfeldt also hopes to become chairman of the Assembly education committee and says expansion of the private school voucher program is at the top of the list.  Thiesfeldt says Republicans will also explore additional income and property tax cuts.  Other Republican priorities include writing new academic standards, and overhauling the nonpartisan board that oversees elections and enforces campaign finance law, perhaps reverting to the previous partisan model.
