12-2-14 leibham resigns from senate seat

Republican state Sen. Joe Leibham is resigning from the Senate a month before his term expires so he can pursue an undisclosed job opportunity.  Leibham, who is from Sheboygan, announced that he was resigning as of 4 p.m. Monday. He ran for Congress instead of seeking re-election this year and lost in the Republican primary to eventual winner Glenn Grothman. Devin LeMahieu won election to replace Leibham in the Senate and is taking his seat in January.  Leibham says he was resigning early “in the interest of considering future employment opportunities while being compliant with state law.”   The 45-year-old Leibham has been in the Senate since 2002 and served four years in the Assembly prior to that.
