12-10-14 thiesfeldt-dot budget

A Fond du Lac Republican lawmaker says he has concerns about a proposed DOT budget  that includes $751 million in new taxes and user fees to pay for transportation.  State representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt says his initial reaction is that Wisconsin already has a good transportation infrastructure. “In spite of the fact that we live in a northern climate which is really rough on roads I really can’t say that Wisconsin’s roads are really any different than roads I see in other states and that includes states that pay significantly less than Wisconsin does on transportation systems,”  Thiesfeldt told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  Thiesfeldt says he has a big concern with a proposed tax increase on new vehicle purchases.  “That certainly is not the way to help out our auto industry nor the local dealers who certainly make money and employ an awful lot of people.”
