12-24-14 protesters marching downtown milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Dozens of protesters are marching in the streets of downtown Milwaukee.  They initially gathered Tuesday evening in the downtown Milwaukee park where a white police officer shot and killed a black man in April.  Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm announced Monday that Christopher Manney would face no criminal charges in 31-year-old Dontre Hamilton’s death.  Hamilton’s family has been leading mostly peaceful protests in response. Perhaps 75 protesters gathered in the park holding signs that read “Justice 4 Dontre.” They chanted Hamilton’s name and “No justice, no compromise.”   Then they started to march through downtown Milwaukee with no apparent destination in mind, again chanting “No justice, no compromise.”  Police blocked intersections so that cars would not run them over.
