2-24-15 college students protest walker’s proposed uw system cuts

MADISON, Wis. (AP) —College students gathered in the state capitol today warned that Governor Scott Walker’s budget plan will lead to fee and tuition increases in the University of Wisconsin system. The students gathered to lament Walker’s plan to cut $300 million from the UW System. He also plans to continue a current tuition freeze for another two years and free the system from state oversight. The students’ group predicts the cuts coupled with the tuition freeze will force schools to raise student fees. They say once the freeze ends the system will raise tuition.
