5-8-15 proposed recycling program cuts-fdl impact

The Fond du Lac Public Works director says a proposed cut to the statewide recycling program would cost the city a little more than $30,000.  The Joint Finance Committee voted this week to cut the local recycling program by 20 percent.  Public Works Director Jordan Skiff says the city would look at other areas of the city budget to make up the difference for the one year.  “The city of Fond du Lac has consistently gotten about $150,000 per year in that recycling grant,”  Skiff told WFDL news.  “If you apply that 20 percent to that we estimate we would lose about $33,000.”   Skiff says the bigger concern is if these cuts become more frequent down the road.
